Celebrate Collegiate Recovery Week with NRAP April 15-19, 2024

The Association of Recovery in Higher Education (ARHE) was founded on April 15, 2010 and has since recognized April 15th as Collegiate Recovery Day. As the number of programs have grown, so have the celebrations and so now, we celebrate Collegiate Recovery Week – creating a full week of programming, social media campaigns, and opportunities to build connection!  Collegiate Recovery Week is an opportunity to host events on campus, celebrate the joys of recovery, share stories, and uplift one another through community!  Join Nevada's Recovery and Prevention in celebrating National Collegiate Recovery Week by wearing #PurpleForRecovery and joining us for one of our many Collegiate Recovery Week events.

Thank you for supporting NRAP’s 3rd Annual R5k Run/Walk & Recovery Celebration!

By participating in NRAP’s R5K & Recovery Celebration you have helped NRAP enhance, expand, and sustain programming for students such as additional mutual-aid support groups, mindfulness sessions and student leadership training. Likewise, funds raised will support NRAP Adventures – which include activities centered on fitness, health and outdoor experiences while building positive relationships with other sober/healthy students.

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — A student organization on the Nevada campus is ramping up a program to give students and the community an opportunity to use the great outdoors as a key to maintain sobriety. Nevada Recovery and Prevention or “NRAP” is nestled in the middle of the UNR campus. It’s a place where students in drug or alcohol recovery or those just wanting a sober college experience can come for friendship, support, and mentoring.

NRAP's Core Principles

Connect

Students who want to live a sober lifestyle tend to isolate and have a difficult time connecting with other students.  NRAP was developed to provide a safe and fun community where students can meet others and not feel alone. Through our on-campus center students can drop in between classes to study, attend meetings, play video games, and most of all, make new friends.

Grow

Recovering and sober living students challenge today’s perceived norms of substance use on college campuses. To support them NRAP houses recovery and wellness meetings, provides opportunities to give back to others and their community, focuses on academic success, and allows students to grow in their mind, body, and spirit.

Thrive

Students living a substance free lifestyle have the opportunity to celebrate each day and not have the past define their future. NRAP focuses on overall wellness with a goal of supporting students to find acceptance, happiness, fun, peace, success, and commitment to a healthy life. Connecting with others and growing individually allows our students to thrive during their college experience!
