A Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) is a nurturing and supportive environment on a college campus for students who are abstinent from substance use and risky behaviors.

Social support is an important component in an individuals’ successful and prolonged recovery efforts and particularly so on a college campus where social stigmas exist on a very palpable level. Many students who become involved in a Collegiate Recovery Program claim isolation as one of the primary issues they faced prior to their involvement and connection to the program’s community of peers.

In the CRPs, there are a variety of resources and tools available to the students including but not limited to; provision of social support through peer-to-peer services and activities, academic support, professional development through advisement, on-going seminars, scholarships, leadership training, a scholarly program of study, 12 step meetings, sober events both on and off campus, and linkage to community resources.
